Web3 has a lot of new lingo (see our Web3 lingo guide here) including ‘Wallets’.
But never fear, here is a quick primer on crypto wallets.
What is a crypto wallet?
In order to access our Grow Web3 Wise curriculum, you must purchase The Forest Passport NFT.
You’ll need a place to store your NFT.
Wallets are where you store the NFTs and any cryptocurrencies you own.
You can use the crypto you own (such as Ethereum) in your wallet to buy NFTs.
When you purchase an NFT such as The Forest Passport, the ownership of that NFT transfers from the holder directly to you via the blockchain.
Most wallets are connected directly to your browser. Anytime you browse a site selling NFTs, it will ask whether you’d like to connect your wallet.
Connecting your wallet to these sites enables you to transact.
Do I need a crypto wallet to buy The Forest Passport?
Yes. You will need a wallet to store the The Forest Passport NFT you’ve purchased.
How do I get a crypto wallet?
The Forest interacts with any Ethereum based wallet. We recommend MetaMask.
You can download your free Wallet directly from their website and create an address.
When you install a wallet, you become the owner of two 42-character keys. There’s a public key (known as your wallet address) and a private key.
The public key, as the name suggests, is public. Think of it as the bank number you’d share if someone wanted to wire you money.
Your private key, however, is like your password.
You’ll want to keep that safe, secure and most importantly private.

How do I connect my crypto wallet to The Forest?
Eventually, you will be prompted to connect your wallet on one of The Forest’s pages.
When ready, all you will have to do is click the ‘Connect Wallet’ button and follow the instructions.
What happens after I buy an NFT? Where can I see my NFTs?
After you purchase The Forest Passport NFT, The Forest will deliver a unique Noctua (owl) to your connected wallet within 7 days. This Noctua is your identity and passport to the Forest.
You can view the NFTs you’ve purchased directly in your wallet or on a third party marketplace such as OpenSea.
